  • N.Y. City urged to prepare for major hurricane

Disaster Recovery strategies for your data needs to be in place way before a Hurricane is in route. When Hurricane Rita was moving toward Houston we stopped everything we were doing and were backing up all client machines to our datacenter. Our datacenter can handle category 5 winds and has 50,000 gallons of diesel with four Caterpillar generators. Not to mention it is on the seventh floor and can not be flooded. All of our company’s data was backed up at our datacenter as we left town prior to Hurricane Rita making land fall. I clearly recall thinking as I drove out of town how glad I was that our data was in our datacenter. There are a lot of datacenters that could not handle a stormy day let alone a category 3 hurricane. We have a service called SAFeData that will nightly encrypt then compress your vital business data to include Microsoft SQL server and Microsoft Exchange server and “push” your data to our class “A” datacenter.

This is an automatic process no one has to do anything we verify that the offsite backups were completed properly and will work through scheduled back up test to ensure everything is working properly.

In the event that your systems crash due to hardware failure, theft, cyber attack, Hurricane or terrorist attach your data is secured and easily restored to new hardware.
